Origin and history

The Herbe Museum is a Parisian museum run by a 1901 law association, recognized as a public interest museum. Created in 1975 at the Jardin d'acclimation with the support of the Fondation de la vocation, it is distinguished by an innovative pedagogical approach, centered on art as a vector of social ties. Its unique mediation and scenography aim to introduce a wide audience, from children to adults, through accessible and interactive exhibitions.

Since 2016, the museum has been located at 23 rue de l'Arbre-Sec, in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. It is subsidized by the City Hall of Paris and supported on an ad hoc basis by the State, the Île-de-France region, as well as by artists and individuals. Its objective remains to awaken curiosity and artistic sensitivity with adapted tools, such as playbooks and animated tours.

The Herbal Museum offers exhibitions designed for an audience aged 3 to 103, focusing on play, humour and interactivity. At the same time, he organizes plastic art workshops for children from 2 and a half years old, supervised by plastic specialists. These activities allow us to explore works of art while experimenting with different techniques and materials, thus strengthening its role as a key actor in artistic education.

Recognized for its inclusive approach, the museum addresses families as well as adults, with adapted guided tours. Its community model and its commitment to cultural accessibility make it a unique place in the Parisian museum landscape, combining creativity, pedagogy and openness to all.
