Origin and history

The Mado Robin Museum is a space dedicated to the singer Mado Robin, born in Yzeures-sur-Creuse, located in Place François-Mitterrand. He shares his building with the municipal library, whose entrance is rue Pasteur. Nearby is also the Minerve Museum. This place preserves personal objects, stage costumes and audiovisual documents related to his career, presented in decors that reconstruct his emblematic roles.

Prior to its official opening, part of the collections were displayed on the second floor of the social centre, in the form of an immersive opera lodge, combining sound and light. This initial project evolved thanks to the donation of objects by Mado Robin's family, pushing the municipality to create a full museum, inaugurated on December 21, 2008.

The museum houses a reconstructed opera lodge, photographs, posters and an auditorium that distributes archives of its shows and interviews. A bust in tribute to the singer, carved by Paulette Richon and Jacques Walter, sits on the square in front of the museum. Temporary exhibitions (watercolours, photographs) are regularly organized, enriching its cultural offer.

The museum's mission is to perpetuate the memory of Mado Robin, a major figure in opera, while stimulating local cultural life. Its placement in a building shared with the library highlights its anchoring in the daily life of the municipality, combining artistic heritage and public services.

Official sources, such as the municipal newsletters of 2008 and 2009, document its creation and evolution, while related articles on Wikipedia associate with the portals of culture, opera and Indre-et-Loire, confirming its regional and thematic reach.
