Origin and history

The Authumes Municipal Museum was inaugurated in 1990 and has benefited from a two-tier redevelopment. Its collections come mainly from donations from Louhanais and Bressans, enriched recently by contributions to develop a significant regional fund. The museum occupies the upper floors of the building, which also houses the printing museum, an antenna of the Burgundian Bresse Museum.

Among its assets, the museum offers a reconstruction of the museum hall of the late nineteenth century, including state deposits. Rooms are dedicated to local artists as well as Louis James donation, offering an overview of the region's cultural and artistic heritage. The museum's official address is located in Louhans-Châteaurenaud, although approximate GPS coordinates place it at Pierre-de-Bresse.

The museum benefits from the label Musée de France and is managed by the municipality of Louhans-Châteaurenaud, in the department of Saône-et-Loire. Its website and practical information, such as the telephone, are accessible to visitors wishing to discover this local heritage.
