Origin and history
The Centre for Resistance, Deportation and Memory (CRDM) is located at 6 Victor-Hugo Square in the city of Blois. Opened in September 2019, he succeeds the former Museum of Resistance, Deportation and Liberation in Loir-et-Cher, founded in 1995 by local resistors and deportees. This new space, inaugurated on November 9, 2019, aims to attract students and tourists with a modernized museum.
The CRDM is managed by the municipality of Blois and houses a collection of 180 objects related to the Resistance in the Loir-et-Cher, spread over 225 m2. At its inauguration, Christiane Hessel, wife of the resistant Stéphane Hessel, was present. Their link with Blois dates back to Pierre Sudreau, former mayor and member of the Brutus Network, who had crossed Stéphane Hessel at the Buchenwald camp.
The objective of the centre is to preserve the memory of the local actors of the Resistance and Deportation, while addressing a wide audience. Its opening marks a milestone in the development of this regional historic heritage, relying on testimonies and artifacts preserved since 1995.
