Origin and history
The church of Notre-Dame-de-Toute-Joie, located in Grigny in the department of L'Essonne, was built in 1973. It is distinguished by its modern architecture, designed by Claude Balick, with a circular plan and a rough concrete structure. The facade, framed by two towers, is equipped with a porch, while the laminated-glued wooden frame culminates in a conical tip housing the bell tower. The stained glass windows, representing scenes of the rosary, were made by Henri Guérin and installed in 1980.
The building, located avenue des Sablons in the heart of the Grigny II district, depends on the diocese of Évry-Corbeil-Essonnes. It was renovated in 2017 to secure its degraded facades, with a budget of €129 000. In 2025, a new roof renovation campaign was financed in part by the Cardinal's Buildings Association, amounting to €215 000 out of a total cost of €305,000.
The church is an active place of worship, where services are celebrated on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. It is under the responsibility of Father Ghislain NTSIBA, a member of the sons of charity. Its location in a priority area makes it a symbol of religious and community presence in an urban context marked by social issues.
