Origin and history

The Notre-Dame d'Hubert-Folie church, located in Calvados in Hubert-Folie (now attached to Castine-en-Plaine), is a religious building dating from the 12th and 13th centuries. Its architecture combines a Romanesque choir with foothills and a 13th century tower with a building. The base of this tower features a door adorned with trilobes and a tympanum decorated with a lamb, while the nave wall preserves modillons. Subsequent changes, such as the addition of a sacristy, changed the building in modern times.

The church was placed under the patronage of the abbey to the Men of Caen, a historical link emphasized by the archives. It houses a 17th century altarpiece and traces of frescoes in false apparatus, characteristic of the Calvados churches of this period. Arcisse de Caumont, in his monumental Statistique du Calvados (1850), highlights his heritage interest. Ranked a historical monument in 1932, it illustrates medieval Norman religious architecture and its evolution.

Protected elements include the building as a whole, owned by the municipality. The site is documented by sources such as Wikipedia and Monumentum, which specify its exact address (10 Rue de l'Église, 14540 Hubert-Folie) and its Insee code (14538). The location, noted as "very satisfactory" (level 8/10), allows a visit facilitated by photographs and descriptions available online.
