Origin and history
Notre-Dame-des-Labours Church is a Catholic church located in Saint-Manvieu-Norrey, Calvados department, Normandy. Built in the 14th century, it stands on the former town of Norrey-en-Bessin, now integrated into Saint-Manvieu-Norrey. This monument illustrates the medieval religious architecture typical of the region, marked by Gothic and local influences.
Ranked as a historical monument in 1840, the church was one of the first protected buildings in France. This early ranking demonstrates its heritage and architectural importance. Historical sources, such as the works of Arcisse de Caumont (1846), highlight its role in the religious and cultural landscape of Bessin.
The building is now owned by the commune of Saint-Manvieu-Norrey. Although the details of its current use (visits, cults, etc.) are not specified, its status as a historical monument guarantees its preservation. Available references, such as the Mérimée base or the Clochers de France, confirm its anchoring in Norman heritage.
