Origin and history

The Church of Notre-Dame-du-Plan, located in the commune of Chaudon-Norante, is a monument dating back to a chapel originally dedicated to Saint Sebastian, before becoming a place of worship under the name of Saint Christophe. Its history remains partially documented, but its evolution reflects local religious transformations over the centuries. Chapels and churches of this type played a central role in the life of the rural communities of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

They served not only as places of prayer, but also as gathering points for religious feasts and important events in collective life. Their architecture and localization often testify to their spiritual and social importance to the inhabitants.
