Origin and history
The old barn with the tithes of Charge, located below the church, is a rectangular building typical of 18th century agricultural buildings. It belonged to a fief of Amboise, united later in the duchy of Choiseul-Amboise. Its frame, composed of inputs and punches, bears an engraved beam of the year 1787, attesting to its period of construction or renovation.
The monument suffered an accidental fire which partially destroyed it, requiring further reconstruction. The new architectural provisions then differed from those of origin, although his initial function as a tithe barn — a place for collecting taxes in kind for the Church or the Lord — remained rooted in his history. This type of building illustrates the economic and social system of the Ancien Régime en Touraine.
Today, the barn is located at 5 Rue Julia Daudet in Chargé (Indre-et-Loire), in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Its exact address and Insee code (37060) confirm its anchoring in the rural heritage of the Loire Valley, although its geographical accuracy is considered "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10) according to available sources. No information is provided on his current access to the public or his contemporary uses.
