Origin and history

It is an archaeological monument located in the municipality of the same name in the Hauts-de-France region. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify its construction period or detailed history. This type of site, generally associated with antiquity, often served as a fortified site for the Gallic or Roman populations, playing a strategic and community role.

Oppidas were major political, economic and religious centres in the organization of protohistoric societies. Their implementation often reflected issues of territorial control or protection. In Hauts-de-France, an area marked by an ancient occupation, these sites testify to cultural dynamics and exchanges between peoples before and during Romanization.
