Origin and history
The Sainte-Thérèse Oratory is a religious monument located in Lambesc, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Dated from the second quarter of the 17th century, it embodies the devotional architecture of this period, marked by a strong Catholic influence in south-eastern France. Its registration as a Historic Monument by decree of 22 July 1935 bears witness to its heritage value and preservation by the local authorities.
At the time of its construction, Lambesc was a rural commune where daily life was rhythmic by agriculture, especially the cultivation of vines and olive trees, and by religious practices. The oratories, often erected at the edge of roads or at the entrances of villages, served as places of prayer and assembly for the inhabitants. They played a central social and spiritual role, strengthening community cohesion around faith.
The Sainte-Thérèse Institute is now owned by the municipality of Lambesc. Although its state of conservation and accessibility are not specified in the available sources, its listing under Historic Monuments guarantees legal protection. Approximate location, noted as "passible" (level 5/10), suggests that checks may be required to refine its exact position on modern maps.
