Origin and history
The Polignac Pavilion is a house built in the early 19th century, more precisely in the first quarter of this century. Located in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, this monument bears the name of Prince Jules de Polignac, a major political figure of the French Restoration. The latter, Charles X's minister, lived there and died there in 1847, marking the history of the place by its link with the July monarchy and the political upheavals of the time.
Ranked as a Historic Monument, the pavilion is distinguished by its architecture and history intimately linked to French political life. Only part of the building, the ground floor with its pediment overlooking the garden, is protected by a registration order dated 15 October 1974. This partial protection underlines the heritage importance of this architectural element, while suggesting that other parts of the pavilion may have undergone alterations or degradations over time.
The pavilion is located at 15 rue Alexandre-Dumas and 2 rue Giraud-Theulon, in the department of Yvelines. Although its exact address is sometimes subject to approximations, as evidenced by the mention of a slightly different GPS address (2bis Allée Giraud-Teulon), it remains a point of historical and architectural interest in the city of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. The location is considered "a priori satisfactory", allowing visitors to locate it without major difficulty.
