Origin and history

The Pavillon de Pourras is a building located in the commune of Perray-en-Yvelines, in the department of Yvelines, in the Île-de-France region. This monument is an integral part of the Château de Rambouillet National Estate, a protected historical and natural complex. Its classification under the Historical Monuments, carried out by Decree No. 2024-472 of 24 May 2024, covers all its interior parts, thus underlining its heritage importance.

The Domaine national de Rambouillet, to which the Pavillon de Pourras belongs, is an emblematic site of the region, marked by rich history and preserved landscapes. This type of pavilion, often linked to aristocratic or royal domains, reflects the architecture and uses of secondary residences or outbuildings of large ensembles. In the Yvelines, a region historically marked by the presence of the nobility and the Parisian bourgeoisie, these pavilions served as places of resort or management of the surrounding lands.
