Polissoir (Case D 320): Order of 5 November 1971

Origin and history

The Polissoir du Petit Runio is a megalithic vestige located in the commune of Plouagat, in the department of Côtes-d The Neolithic monument is characteristic of the polishing tools used by prehistoric communities to shape stone objects, such as axes or grasses. The stone used, dolerite, a hard and resistant material, reflects the technical know-how of the artisans of the time.

Ranked as a historical monument since 5 November 1971, the polissoir du Petit Runio enjoys heritage protection that underscores its archaeological importance. Its precise location, reported near the so-called Kerhamon, makes it a local testimony of Neolithic activities in Brittany. Although the sources do not specify its exact use or the context of its discovery, this type of monument generally illustrates places of collective production, essential to the social and economic organization of prehistoric societies.

The location of the polisher, indicated with average accuracy (level 5/10), suggests that its access or visibility may be limited. No information is available on recent excavations or in-depth studies on this specific site. However, its ranking among French historical monuments makes it a key element of the Breton megalithic heritage, alongside other similar sites scattered throughout the region.
