Origin and history
Bridge number 3 is a historic monument located in Scherwiller, in the department of Lower Rhine, in the Grand Est region. Built around 1750, it is the third bridge built on the salt road, a strategic axis for the transport of this essential commodity in modern times. Its architecture is distinguished by an arch in the middle and parapets, characteristic of the works of this period.
Ranked historic monument by decree of 18 November 1993, this bridge bears witness to the importance of road and commercial infrastructure in Alsace of the eighteenth century. It is now owned by the municipality of Scherwiller and remains an emblematic vestige of local history, linked to the salt trade between Scherwiller and Thanvillé.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight its role in the region's historical communication network. Although its exact location is estimated with average accuracy (level 5/10), it is one of the protected monuments of the Lower Rhine, illustrating the Alsatian architectural and economic heritage.
