Origin and history

The Gourdan-Polignan Bridge is a stone building built in the 3rd quarter of the 18th century, located in the communes of Gourdan-Polignan and Montréjeau (Haute-Garonne, Occitanie). He crossed the Garonne on National Highway 125, replacing a previous wooden bridge destroyed by the floods of 1772 and 1787. Its structure combines five low arches in the centre and two lateral arches in the middle, reflecting the construction techniques of the time.

The bridge was listed as a historic monument by order of December 21, 1984, recognizing its heritage value. The historical sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) underline its role in the continuity of road exchanges between the two banks of the Garonne, despite the climatic hazards that motivated its reconstruction. No information is available on any architects or sponsors.

The administrative data indicate that the monument falls within the public domain and is not associated with a specific cadastre. Its exact location is estimated at 2 Rue des Deux Ponts, 31210 Montréjeau, with geographical accuracy considered to be satisfactory (note 6/10). No mention is made of its current accessibility or associated tourism services.
