Origin and history
The Ponts de Fascines are structures located in the communes of Breuil-le-Sec and Breuil-le-Vert, in the department of Oise. These works, inscribed in the Monuments Historiques by order of 26 February 1936, bear witness to a traditional construction technique using fascinations, i.e. fagots of branchages linked together. Their exact location is approximate, with an accuracy considered fair (level 5/10), according to the available data.
Their presence in this region, once marked by a rural and agricultural economy, suggests a practical role for local displacement or the crossing of wetlands. This type of bridge, often modest, reflects the craftsmanship and concrete needs of the peasant communities of the time. Although little documented, these bridges illustrate a vernacular heritage today rare and protected.
