Origin and history

Lavergne Pigeon is a small building composed of an arch in the middle of a hanger supporting a two-paned roof. This portal, topped by a floor in corbellation on ressalt consoles, served as a dovecote. It probably belonged to a enclosure or a wall, the traces of which are still visible on one of the pillars. Although its exact date is uncertain (15th or 17th century), it is the last vestige of a large farm or a missing residence.

The work was renovated between September 2014 and June 2015, as shown by the photographs available online. Ranked Historic Monument by order of 20 July 1979, it is now accessible by road, although not internally visitable. Its precise location is indicated as satisfactory (note 8/10), and it is located on an open ground with possibility of parking.

This dovecoier-porch illustrates the utilitarian and defensive architecture of modern-day farms in Occitanie. His registration as Historic Monuments underscores his heritage interest, despite the disappearance of the other buildings he was associated with. Available sources, such as Monumentum, confirm its status as an emblematic vestige of local rural heritage.
