Origin and history
The presbytery of Saint-Cyprien, located in the municipality of the same name in Dordogne (Nouvelle-Aquitaine), is an old house dating from the 16th century. This building, classified as Historic Monument, is characterized by two corner windows adorned with pilasters and a moulure bandeau, typical of the beginning of this period. These architectural elements suggest a noble origin, although the archives do not specify its original use or its first occupants.
The facade on the alley is bordered by a terrace bounded by a iron ramp added in the 18th century, illustrating a posterior stylistic evolution. The presbytery was partially protected by a decree of 16 June 1965, specifically covering its facades and roofs. Today, its current use (visits, rental, accommodation) is not specified in the available sources.
The location of the monument at 11 Place des Oies in Saint-Cyprien is documented in the Merimée base, although geographical accuracy is considered to be poor (note 5/10). There is no information to identify the sponsors of its construction or the craftsmen who have worked on its decorative elements. Sources are limited to architectural descriptions and its status as a Historic Monument.
