Origin and history
The 18th-century presbytery of Saint-Front-de-Pradoux is a historic monument whose heritage value rests mainly on the architecture of its eastern façade. Five large arcades support a upper gallery, whose original balustrade has been replaced by a wall of parpaings. This gallery, accessible by five doors aligned with the arcades, is bordered by wooden strand pillars irregularly arranged, reinforced by arches. The ceiling, with exposed beams, serves five spacious rooms, while the rounded corners of the house and a molded cornice mark the transition to the roof.
The Mansard type roof combines canal tiles on the terrasson and flat tiles on the broken, supported by a period frame. Inside, one of the rooms on the ground floor preserves two small ovens, remains of past domestic uses. The west face, on one level, contrasts with the east elevation. The building, a communal property, saw its facades and roofs inscribed in the Historical Monuments by decree of 4 February 1974, highlighting its architectural and historical interest.
The location of the presbytery at 7 Rue Meytadier Duteil in Saint-Front-de-Pradoux (Dordogne) reflects its anchoring in a rural territory of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Although its geographical precision is considered fair (note 5/10), its role in the local community, probably linked to parish and administrative life, remains a testimony of the 18th century religious civil constructions. Available sources (Monumentum, Merimée base) confirm its protected status and its potential openness to contemporary uses (visits, rentals).
