Façade sur rue : inscription by order of 31 January 1927
Origin and history
The presbytery of Saint-Félix-Lauragais is a 15th century historical monument. Located in the Haute-Garonne department, in the Occitanie region, it is distinguished by its street façade, decorated with particularly well preserved crucifixed windows. This architectural detail reflects the know-how of the late medieval era, where openings were often designed to combine aesthetics and functionality, while reflecting the building's status.
Ranked as a Historic Monument, the presbytery was partially protected by decree of 31 January 1927, specifically concerning its façade. This inscription underlines the heritage importance of the building, although its exact location is considered to be of poor accuracy (level 5 in 10) according to the available data. The building, owned by the municipality, is associated with the approximate address of 14 Rue Déodat de Séverac, in an urban context marked by the history of the country.
The role of a presbytery in the 15th century was central to the religious and community life of Occitan villages. At that time, the region, then integrated into Toulouse County before joining the royal estate, was a crossroads of cultural and economic influences. The presbyteries served not only as a lodging for the clergy, but also as a place for managing parish affairs, reflecting the social and spiritual organization of rural communities. Their architecture, often sober but neat, symbolized local ecclesiastical authority.
