Key figures

Novarina - Architect Designer of the rectory between 1769 and 1773.

Origin and history

The presbytery of La Boissière was built between 1769 and 1773 by the architect Novarina, at the site of an ancient presbytery in ruins. This building, representative of the 18th century rural presbyteries of the Petite Montagne, illustrates the modest religious architecture of this period in the region.

Ranked Historic Monument by order of 15 July 1997, the presbytery also includes the garden and orchard wall in its protection. This monument reflects the importance of religious buildings in the rural communities of Burgundy-Franche-Comté, where they served as a centre for social and spiritual life.

The architect Novarina, although little documented in the available sources, marked this project with a functional construction adapted to its rural environment. The location of the presbytery, at 282 Rue de la Cure, reflects its integration into the village fabric of La Boissière, commune of the Jura department (39).
