Origin and history
The Fondremand Presbytery is a religious building built in 1772 by architect Louis Beuque, located in the commune of Fondremand in Haute-Saône. It revolves around a closed courtyard, including a house body, barns, a logger and a dovecote, all covered in lava. This set reflects the rural and religious architecture of Burgundy-Franche-Comté in the 18th century.
In 1844, an oven room was added south of the presbytery, while in 1847, the large barn of origin was demolished and replaced by a more modest construction. The house, built on a vaulted basement, houses typical rooms such as a kitchen, a work room and upstairs bedrooms, with a characteristic 18th century interior decor.
The presbytery was listed as historic monuments in 2008, recognizing its heritage value. It is located to the south of the church, backed by the enclosure of the castral village, and now belongs to the commune. Its architecture and history illustrate the evolution of religious and agricultural buildings in this region.
The 1844 and 1847 works marked significant changes in the building, adapting its functions to the needs of the time. The architect Louis Beuque and the entrepreneur Jean-Baptiste Perruche played a key role in its initial construction, while the subsequent developments bear witness to the architectural changes of the 19th century.
