Origin and history
The Presbytery of Poiseux is a historical monument located in the commune of Poiseux, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Built between the last quarter of the 16th century and the first quarter of the 17th century, it bears witness to the religious architecture of this pivotal period between Renaissance and classical times. The building is now the property of the commune, and its gate on street, located at 18 of the plot AM, was inscribed by ministerial decree on 7 February 1975.
At that time, the presbyteries played a central role in the life of the Burgundy villages. They served not only as a lodging for the parish priest, but also as a gathering place for parish affairs and community activities. Burgundy-Franche-Comté, a region marked by a strong rural and religious tradition, saw these buildings as symbols of ecclesiastical authority and local social cohesion. Materials and architectural style often reflected the available resources and artistic influences of the period.
Available data indicate that the Presbytery of Poiseux is located at two nearby addresses: rue de l'Eglise and rue André Piault. This duality of addresses could be explained by urban developments or administrative adjustments over the centuries. The monument, although partially protected, does not have detailed information on its current accessibility, whether it be visits, rentals or accommodation. The accuracy of its location is considered fair, suggesting room for improvement for its geographical documentation.
