Origin and history

The Calespoutrat mansion, located in Toulouse in the Boulingrin Square district, is a remarkable example of residential architecture in the first half of the 20th century. Built in light yellow brick, it is distinguished by its imposing volumetricity, contrasting with the surrounding buildings. This choice of materials and aesthetics reflect the architectural trends of the period, mixing local tradition and modernity.

The hotel was designed by architect Edmond Pilette, also responsible for the Gontaut-Biron estate. In 1932 Pilette received the order of two projects nearby: the house Guignard (3 square Boulingrin) and the hotel Calespoutrat, located at the corner of the François-Verdier alleys and the Boulingrin square. These achievements are part of a coherent urban complex, marked by rigorous planning and special attention to architectural details.

The hotel Calespoutrat has been listed as a Historic Monument since December 19, 2018, with a specific protection on its facades and roofs. This official recognition underlines its heritage importance, both for its style and for its integration into the Toulouse landscape. The monument is associated with several other buildings and houses of the same period, located in the same district, forming a homogeneous architectural ensemble.

The exact address of the hotel, 1 Boulingrin Square, is specified in the Merimée base, and its location is confirmed by GPS coordinates. Despite a location deemed "passable" (note of 5/10), the monument remains a landmark in the city centre of Toulouse. No information is available on its access to the public, whether it be visits, room rental or accommodation.
