Origin and history

The Marchioux property, located in Parthenay, is an emblematic example of the beautiful bourgeois houses built in the early 19th century by the old families of the city. Built in 1800, this square house illustrates the architectural style of the period, with reused materials, including the entrance door from the 17th century Château de la Meilleraye. The building, organized between courtyard and garden, is raised and accessible by a perron adorned with a wrought iron ramp.

The interior of the property has preserved its original woodwork, dating from the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. The park, now populated by works, completed this residential complex. The property, including its park, was listed as a Historic Monument by order of 18 February 1948. Its architecture and history reflect the prestige of the local bourgeois families, which marked the urbanisation of Parthenay.

The house is located in 84 Faubourg Marchioux, in the department of Deux-Sèvres (79), in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Although some features, such as a well in the courtyard, have disappeared, the property remains an architectural and historical testimony of this period. The location of the property is considered satisfactory, with an approximate address also identified at 4 Rue des Cordiers.
