Origin and history
The Mon Repos property is located on the island of La Réunion, in the city of Saint-Pierre. This site, which has been listed as a Historic Monument since 2008, includes a set of buildings and their plated grounds, replacing previous protection limited to the chimney and field.
The initial listing, dated 16 April 2002, concerned only the chimney and the land. It was expanded on 9 January 2008 to cover the entire building and estate, reflecting the heritage importance of this colonial property. Its architecture is representative of Creole agricultural houses on the island.
Located in Mon-Repos driveway, this property bears witness to La Réunion's agricultural and colonial past. Creole boxes, like My Rest, were often places of production and life, incorporating architectural elements adapted to tropical climate and local activities, such as sugar cane or coffee cultivation.
