Origin and history

The property located in Maisons-Laffitte is a house of notable built in 1854 for singer Louis Lablache. This second quarter of the 19th century building is distinguished by its refined architecture and functional interior design. The basement has service areas such as the kitchen, the bathroom, the auxiliary rooms and a vaulted wine cellar. The attic still retains a water reservoir, vestige of the original domestic installations.

The property's park includes a vegetable garden and orangery, whose three curved berries are taken up in trompe l'oeil by a shallow edicle, creating an illusion of visual symmetry. This ensemble, with its facades and roofs, as well as all the outbuildings, was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 15 September 1992. The precise location, 39 Albine Avenue, is attested in the Merimée base, although the cartographic accuracy is considered poor (level 5/10).

The property illustrates the lifestyle of the notables of the Second Empire, combining domestic comfort and landscape aesthetics. Its architecture and facilities reflect the tastes of the era for bourgeois residences, where art and functionality combine. The singer Louis Lablache, who sponsored the venues, left an artistic mark, especially through the park's perspective games.
