Pont sur la Veore (no CADASTRE box; PUBLIC AREA): registration by order of 6 December 1982

Origin and history

The bridge over the Véore de Beaumont-lès-Valence is a historic monument located in the Drôme department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Built between the 17th and 18th centuries, this pedestrian structure crosses the Veore, a local waterway. Its architecture reflects the construction techniques of the time, adapted to the traffic needs of the inhabitants and the geographical constraints of the region.

Ranked Historic Monument by order of 6 December 1982, the bridge is now owned by Beaumont-lès-Valence. Although its exact location is estimated as "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10), it remains an important testimony of local heritage. The protected elements include the entire structure, located in the public domain. No information is available on its current accessibility or on a possible tourist destination.

In the modern era (XVIIth–XVth centuries), bridges played a crucial role in local exchanges, facilitating trade, movement of inhabitants and links between villages. In the Valencia region, which was then integrated into the Dauphiné province, these infrastructures were often built under the impulse of local communities or lords. Their maintenance was generally a collective responsibility, reflecting the importance of communication networks for economic and social development.
