Origin and history
The Rebomare mansion is a building dating back to the second half of the 16th century, with modifications made in the 18th century. Located in the municipality of Gommerville, in the Seine-Maritime, it embodies the Norman rural architecture of the modern era. The estate consists of a dwelling (with remarkable chimneys), a barn, an old press and a dovecote, typical elements of the manor houses in this region.
In 1985, the manor house was listed as historic monuments for its facades, roofs and chimneys, as well as for its dovecote. At that time, the roofs required restoration, particularly due to temporary blankets such as corrugated sheet. The site, located along departmental road 10, near the Le Havre - St-Romain aerodrome, reflects the evolution of agricultural and seigneurial practices in Caux.
The mansion underwent restorations in the 19th and 20th centuries, although the sources do not specify their scope or their sponsors. Its inscription in the Mérimée base and its precise location (313 Rue du Manoir, Gommerville) make it a protected heritage testimony, representative of the manor houses of Caux. No information is available about its current accessibility (visits, rentals) or its contemporary use.
