Origin and history
La Folie Huvé is a neo-classical pleasure house built by architect Jean-Jacques Huvé in Meudon, in the Bas-Meudon district, between 1783 and 1788. This building, designed as a personal residence, reflects the influence of 18th century architectural currents, combining harmony of proportions and sober decors. Huvé, a Versaillais architect, lived there until its sale in 1816, marking the beginning of a series of changes of owners.
In 1816, the property was acquired by Mme de Foissy, and in 1858 by F. Perrenoud, a Swiss watchmaker, who kept it until the beginning of the 20th century. The construction of the Moulineaux line considerably reduces the area of the estate. In the 20th century, Gabriel Laumet, former Czar cook, settled and renamed the house "Moskowa". It was finally classified as a historical monument on 12 March 1945 under the name "Folie Huvé" and remains today a private property owned by its descendants.
The Folie Huvé, located on the 13th road from Vaugirard to Meudon, is a rare testimony of neo-classical architecture in Île-de-France. Its classification in 1945 underlines its heritage importance, while preserving its residential use. The sources, such as the Merimée and Monumentum base, confirm its status as a protected monument, associated with the legacy of Jean-Jacques Huvé, a major figure in the architecture of his time.
