Reposoir, located at the entrance of the village : inscription by order of 5 October 1925
Origin and history
The Noaillac Restroom is a small 17th-century religious building located in the Gironde department in New Aquitaine. Built at the entrance of the village on the D116 departmental road, it served as a shelter for travellers and a place of devotion during the processions. Its architecture combines stone and brick, with a ridge arch covering the oratory.
Ranked a historic monument by order of October 5, 1925 for its altar, this repose illustrates the importance of religious edicles in the French countryside. It was both a place of pause and a symbol of collective piety, reflecting the social and spiritual life of the rural communities of the time.
Today, the Noaillac Restory remains an architectural and historical testimony to the tradition of roadside oratories. Its location near the town hall highlights its integration into the village's urban fabric, while maintaining its memorial and heritage function.
