The village tower (cad. A 197): inscription by decree of 10 January 1964

Origin and history

The Tower of the village of Revest-les-Eaux is a building located in the municipality of the same name, in the department of Var (83), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. This monument, whose construction period is not specified in the available sources, was included in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of January 10, 1964. It is identified as the "Village Tower" and is located at 5 Chemin du Rouqua.

Owned by the municipality, it is only accessible to the public on the occasion of the Heritage Days. Revest-les-Eaux, like many Provencal villages, has developed around defensive or surveillance structures, often linked to the medieval or modern history of the region. Village towers were generally used as a point of reference, protection or storage, reflecting community organization and the strategic needs of local populations.

In this context, the Tower of Revest-les-Eaux could be part of this architectural tradition, although its exact use and detailed history are not explicitly documented in the sources consulted. Its registration as a Historic Monuments, however, underscores its heritage importance and its role in local identity.
