Origin and history
Hotel de Richepanse is a private hotel located at 3-5 rue Masseran, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Built in the 18th century, it embodies the aristocratic residential architecture of this period, with classified facades and roofs, as well as protected garden and courtyard floors since 1961. Its location, in a then booming area, reflects the prestige of the Parisian homes of the Ancien Régime.
The building is the work of architect Brongniart, known for his neoclassical style. Although some parts, such as the museum wing, are not protected, the entrance pavilions and exterior elements demonstrate a harmonious design. The approximate location, noted as "passable" (5/10), and the available GPS coordinates suggest a clear identification, despite minor inaccuracies.
Ranked a Historical Monument by order of 2 October 1961, the Hotel de Richepanse illustrates the desire to preserve the Parisian architectural heritage. The protections specifically concern facades, roofs and floors, while allowing adaptations such as the elevation of the pavilions. Today its use (visit, rental, accommodation) remains unspecified in the available sources, but its status makes it a privileged witness to the urban history of Paris.
