Origin and history

The Roman Bridge of the Keys is a medieval building built in the 15th century, more precisely in 1450, in the commune of the Keys in Haute-Savoie. It allows you to cross the Proud, a local stream, and is distinguished by its full arch in the back of a donkey, characteristic of the constructions of this time. Located in the undergrowth of the Féterel, it is upstream of the confluence with the Chambroid stream.

In 1571, the bridge was repaired, attesting to its importance for local traffic. He was registered as a historical monument by order of 29 August 1947, thereby recognizing his heritage value. Today, it belongs to the commune of Keys and remains an architectural testimony of Savoyard history.

The bridge is also referenced in the Merimée and Structurae bases, confirming its status as a protected monument. Its precise location, close to the Manigod road, makes it a notable part of the historical landscape of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
