Origin and history
Saint-Julien-sur-Roche Church is a Roman Catholic church in Ramasse, Ain department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Classified as a historic monument since 12 July 1945, it is an emblematic vestige of local religious heritage. The ruins, although partially erased, recall its central role in community life for nearly a thousand years, as indicated by a commemorative plaque installed in the 21st century.
In 2008, the city council of Ramasse had considered filling the remains, but the classification of the site as historical monuments allowed their preservation. An orientation table, added in the 20th century, and a calvary cross built near the ruins complete the site today. These elements underline the historical and cultural importance of the church, which once served both as a religious building and a cemetery for the local population.
The property of the ruins belongs to the municipality of Ramasse. Although the information on its accessibility or current uses (visits, events) is not specified, the site remains a place of memory, marked by its sustainable inscription in the landscape and history of the region. The Merimée base and local sources, like Monumentum, confirm its status as a protected monument and its approximate location near François Rety Street, at the border of Jasseron.
