Origin and history

The church Saint-Emmeran du Puy-Saint-Bonnet is a religious monument located in the commune of Cholet, in the Pays de la Loire region. Although its name evokes a dedication to Saint Emmeran, Bishop of Regensburg in the 7th century, the sources available do not specify its date of foundation or the stages of its construction. Its architecture and role in the local community therefore remain to be studied in more detail.

In the context of the Pays de la Loire, parish churches like Saint-Emmeran traditionally played a central role in the life of villages and towns. They served as a place of worship, community gathering and identity marker for the inhabitants. In Cholet, as in other cities in the region, these buildings often reflected the demographic, economic and religious evolution of their time, although data specific to this monument were lacking.
