Origin and history

The Saint-Florent de Plfur Church, located in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany, is an 18th-century emblematic religious building. It was rebuilt at the end of this century according to the plans of engineer Felix Anfray, while employing earlier architectural elements. Its architecture reflects local traditions, with a Latin cross plan, a three-ship nave, and a choir finished in the Chamber. The western facade is marked by a bell tower, while a circular staircase turret is to the north.

The parish complex also includes a placister and chapel of the Penitents, forming a coherent and traditional ensemble. Inside, the vessels are covered with a painted panel, adding an artistic dimension to the building. The church was listed as historic monuments by order of 15 November 1985, thereby recognizing its heritage value. The ossuary, placed in appentis to the south, recalls the funeral practices of the time.

This monument illustrates the religious architecture of Brittany of the 18th century, with features specific to this period, such as the re-use of earlier elements and a structure adapted to liturgical and community needs. The presence of Felix Anfray, as architect, underlines the importance of this project in the local religious landscape. Today the church remains a testimony to the history and culture of Plfur and its region.
