Origin and history

The Saint-Laurent church of Saint-Laurent-Nord is a religious monument located in the commune of Montricoux, in the Occitanie region. Although its name and location are attested, the available sources do not specify its period of construction or the architectural or historical details that could inform its evolution over the centuries. The churches dedicated to Saint Laurent, martyr of the third century, were often built in rural or semi-rural areas to serve as a place of worship and community gathering.

In Montricoux, as in many Occitan localities, these buildings played a central role in daily life, marking liturgical times, local festivals and social events. Their presence also reflected the medieval or modern parish organization, although the archives are missing here to date precisely this foundation.
