Origin and history

The church Saint-Rémy de Saint-Rémy-en-Comté is a religious monument of classical style built in the 18th century, located in the department of Haute-Saône, in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. It is distinguished by its emblematic architecture of the time, as well as its interior decorative elements, including a series of seven remarkable stained glass windows, woodwork and ironwork, partly classified as historical monuments.

The building is dedicated to Saint Remi de Reims, a bishop of the fifth century famous for having converted to Catholicism and sacred Clovis I, first king of the Franks, as well as 3,000 warriors of his army around the year 500. This dedication highlights the historical link between the monument and one of the major figures of the Christianization of Gaul, although the church itself dates back to a much later period.

Among the particularities of the church are its furniture and objects of Christian art, which reflect both the local craftsmanship and the religious importance of the place. These elements, partly protected, bear witness to the rich heritage of the Haute-Saône and its architectural and spiritual heritage.
