Origin and history

Saint-Barthélemy de Trignan is a Catholic religious building located in the commune of Mézin, France. It bears the name of Saint Bartholomew, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, and is precisely at the place called Trignan, in the communal territory. Its architecture and local history make it a significant part of Lot-et-Garonne's heritage.

The church was officially recognized for its heritage value by being listed as historic monuments on 19 April 1999. This inscription demonstrates its cultural and architectural importance in the region. It is mentioned in local works such as Marianne Beyne and Yannick Zaballos, who explore the heritage of the Earth of Gascogne.

Located in New Aquitaine, this church reflects the religious and social history of Gascogne. Such churches played a central role in community life, serving as places of worship, gathering and identity for the inhabitants. Their construction and maintenance were often linked to local agricultural and craft activities, characteristic of this historic region.
