Origin and history

The synagogue of Vitry-le-François is a religious building located at 7 rue du Mouton, in the department of Marne (51). This monument, inscribed in the Historic Monuments by order of May 15, 2025, is fully protected, including Parcel 90 of the AY section. Its recent registration reflects its heritage and cultural value to the local community and the Greater East region.

Vitry-le-François, the city of the Great East, has long been marked by a Jewish presence, as evidenced by some religious buildings. Synagogues, as places of worship and assembly, play a central role in Jewish community life. Their architecture and location often reflect the history and integration of Jewish populations in French cities.

This synagogue, although little documented in available sources, is part of this shared cultural and religious heritage.
