Origin and history

The Officier Museum (formerly the St. Cyr Coëtquidan School Remembrance Museum) is a military museum located in Guer, Morbihan. It preserves more than 6,000 objects covering three centuries of history, with a focus on the period 1802–1962, illustrating the fates of officers who served France, from Napoleonic wars to contemporary external operations. His collections include emblematic pieces such as the statue La France, the bicycle of the Marchand mission, or a vause of General de Gaulle. The museum also offers temporary exhibitions related to the promotion of local military schools (EMIA, ESM, EMAC) and an outdoor route marked with steles and memorials.

The museum originates in Saint-Cyr-l Destroyed by bombardments in 1944, he was resettled in Coëtquidan in 1945 and inaugurated at its current location in 1967 by Pierre Messmer, Minister of the Army. Renamed the Official's Museum in 2018, it modernises from 2017 onwards with a museographic redesign (digital boundaries, chronological borders) and remains administratively attached to the schools of Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan, under the aegis of the Army's Directorate of Memory, Culture and Archives.

The Museum Association, founded in 1982 and declared in Vannes Prefecture, provides legal and financial support. It also manages the museum's website and its online shop. The museum plays a key role in the transmission of military traditions, administering a historical heritage related to Army officers, while organizing cultural events coordinated by the Delegation to the Army Heritage (DELPAT).
