Origin and history
The water supply system of Saussy, located in the municipality of Saussy (Côte-d的Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté), dates from the 19th century. It consists of a set of built elements spread over the municipalities of Saussy and Vernot, including a water tower equipped with a wind turbine, a bow-button, a spring basin, a reservoir, a washbasin and a water bowl. These structures, located on precise plots of the cadastres of the two communes, were partially listed as Monument Historique by decree of 13 October 2021, then classified on 28 March 2024 for certain emblematic elements such as the tower and the wash.
Ownership of the system is shared between the state, the municipality and private owners. Although its exact location is considered "passable" (note of 5/10), the plans annexed to the protection orders clearly define the areas concerned, marked in red and purple according to the plots. This monument illustrates the rural water infrastructure of the 19th century, essential for the water supply of local people and the agricultural or domestic activities of the period.
Available sources, including the Merimée and Monumentum base, confirm its approximate address at the border of the municipalities of Saussy and Vernot, with a precise cadastral reference. The absence of information about its accessibility (visit, rental) or its current use suggests a mainly heritage vocation, protected for its historical and architectural value. The Creative Commons Photo License (by Christophe.Finot) highlights its documentary and cultural interest.
