Origin and history
Guillaume Garreri Tower is a 15th-century mansion in Toulouse, Occitanie. The building is distinguished by a polygonal tower flanked by a turret and a scallop, housing a screw staircase serving the floors. The facade, adorned with ground floor bosses and arched windows, combines brick and stone, with decorative wrought iron elements.
The entrance door, made of carved stone with a gothic bow, retains its wooden shutters and its original bumper. The tower, attributed to Guillaume Carreri around 1483, underwent reshuffles in the 17th and 19th centuries, notably on the court elevations and the façade of the Rue du Colonel-Pointurier. The surrounding plots, stable since the cadastre of 1680, have evolved over the centuries.
Ranked a Historic Monument in 1950 for its door, the tower bears witness to the architectural transformations of Toulouse, mixing medieval heritage and subsequent adaptations. The bays and some interior decorations are not original, but the ground stone supports of the windows and the general structure recall its prestigious past.
