Origin and history
The Manor House of La Tuilerie, also known as Château de la Tuilerie, is a noble house located in the commune of Jaulges, in the department of Yonne. Built in the early 19th century, it is distinguished by its isolated location south of the village, surrounded by moat and equipped with a dovecote. This monument illustrates the aristocratic residential architecture of the post-revolutionary period, marked by a continuity of seigneurial traditions in a rural setting.
The mansion belonged to the Drouas family since the 18th century, testifying to a prolonged noble occupation over several generations. In 1988, its most remarkable elements — the two dangle pavilions, the moat and the dovecote — were partially listed as historical monuments. This protection highlights the heritage importance of the site, both for its architecture and for its family history.
The precise location of the mansion, at 11 Rue du Château in Jaulges, is referenced in the Merimée base under the code Insee 89205. Although the information on its accessibility (visits, rental) is not detailed, its official inscription makes it a key element of the heritage of the Yonne, included in the list of historical monuments of the department.
