Two tumuli: by order of 29 August 1934
Origin and history
The two tumuli of Soings-en-Sologne are funeral remains dating back to Prehistory. These monuments, typical of megalithic buildings, bear witness to the ritual and funeral practices of ancient populations in the region. Their presence in the solognot landscape underlines the importance of this territory from the most remote times, although their detailed study remains limited by available sources.
Classified as Historical Monuments by order of 29 August 1934, these tumuli enjoy legal protection which attests to their heritage value. Their location, reported near the Fosse Pilaude in Soings-en-Sologne (Insee code 41247), remains imprecise, however, with an estimated reliability of 5/10 according to current geographical data. No additional information is provided on their accessibility or conservation status.
Prehistory in Sologne, as in other parts of France, was marked by societies organized around emerging agriculture, hunting and collecting. Tumuli, as collective or individual burials, played a central role in beliefs related to the death and memory of ancestors. Their construction reflected a certain mastery of the techniques of transport and assembly of stones, as well as a social organisation capable of mobilizing important human resources.
