Origin and history

The alignment of Croas-an-Teurec is a megalithic monument located in the commune of Saint-Goazec, Brittany. This type of structure, characteristic of Neolithic, is usually associated with ritual or funeral practices. The alignments of erect stones, or menhirs, are frequent in this region and bear witness to the social and spiritual organization of local prehistoric populations.

In Brittany of that time, communities lived mainly in agriculture, livestock and gathering. Megalithic monuments, such as alignments or dolmens, played a central role in collective life, serving as territorial landmarks, places of worship or burials.
