Origin and history

The Loutré Parquet factory, located in Daours, Hauts-de-France, was built in 1892 to house a wool spinning plant. This industrial site, emblematic of the textile revolution of the 4th quarter of the 19th century and the 1st quarter of the 20th century, reflects the economic development of the region linked to wool production. The buildings, designed for industrial activities, include workshops, offices, a water building, a fireplace, and a central store, all organized around a functional hydraulic network.

Subsequent developments have transformed some of the infrastructure, such as the Conciergerie building, into houses. This change in usage illustrates the adaptation of industrial sites after their intensive production period. The whole, including the floors, the fence wall and the entrance gate, was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 25 July 2006, stressing its heritage importance.

The location of the factory, at approximately 5044 F Rue de la Vieille Somme, and its Insee code (80234), are precisely located in the Somme department, near Amiens. The accuracy of its geographical location is assessed as "very satisfactory" (note 8/10), facilitating its identification in the regional industrial landscape. The protected elements, such as facades, roofs, and hydraulic equipment, demonstrate the desire to preserve a key site of Picardy industrial history.
