Origin and history
The water-lifting plant, originally located at the Quai de la Rapée and Avenue Ledru-Rollin in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, dates from the last quarter of the 19th century. This industrial building, designed to meet the growing water supply needs of the capital, illustrates the technical advances of the time. Its facades and roofs, inscribed in the Historical Monuments by decree of 11 July 1984, testify to a functional architecture peculiar to the industrial revolution.
The factory was transferred to Villette Park, where it retains heritage value despite its displacement. Originally, it was located near the river infrastructures of the Seine, a strategic location for its role in the management of Parisian water resources. His architect, Pierre Chabat, was the owner of the project, marking his mark in the industrial landscape of Paris.
Today owned by the municipality, the water-raising plant embodies a technical and architectural heritage. Although its current use (visits, rentals, etc.) is not specified in the sources, its protection reflects the importance attached to the preservation of monuments related to French industrial history. The available data point to an approximate initial location, with a map accuracy considered "passable" (note 5/10).
